Hi there, everyone! In this week’s column, I wanted to continue sharing with you about the Eucharistic Revival. Last week we talked about the why & this week I wanted to look at the what. As much as this Revival is a universal revival that is going to be happening at every parish, how it happens will vary from parish to parish, so I wanted to share with you some of the ideas that were floated around at our last Parish Council meeting of what we might be able to do here at St. Patrick’s & St. Vincent de Paul.
One of the ideas that has already begun happening is our quarterly Open Church Holy Hours. We had our first one during Lent & about 20 people came to spend time in prayer with the Blessed Sacrament. Our next Holy Hour will be Monday, June 12th @ 7:00pm, this time at St. Vincent de Paul. These Holy Hours are open to parishioners of either parish so all are welcome to attend.
We also talked about having some sort of discussion or dialogue on the Mass & the Eucharist. What this looks like we haven’t exactly figured out yet, possibly an opportunity for a group to get together & share faith with each other, sharing about where do we find hope, joy, and beauty in the Eucharist & the Mass. We also talked about some ways that we might be able to come to a greater understanding of why we do what we do at Mass. One way that we thought of to accomplish this will be an upcoming bulletin article series on the Mass, look for that to start sometime in August or September. We are also discussing having a weekend where we do a teaching Mass (explaining things as we go) or I may also turn my bulletin article series into a homily series about the why’s of the Mass, again look for that as we get towards the fall.
If you have some ideas as well, please be sure to share them with members of our Parish Council. We are looking, not simply for great ideas, but also for people willing to help make them happen. You don’t need to get up in front of everyone & lead a class, but simply a desire to share your love of our Eucharistic Lord.
O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine. All Praise and All Thanksgiving Be Every Moment Thine!
