Hello everyone. I am Father Don Oleksiak, Diocesan Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.

   The rapidly evolving crisis involving the coronavirus and the consequent directives from governmental health officials have all of us on edge as the routine of our daily lives has changed dramatically in the past week alone. As people of faith, we are deeply saddened by the changes to our worship and sacramental life brought on by the outbreak. Masses have been suspended and liturgies cancelled. The fact is, all of us need to do our part to slow the spread of this serious illness. As we endure these temporary changes, we look forward to the day when we can continue our lives on a more normal basis. One thing is for sure: the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Cleveland is continuing its mission to minister to the faithful throughout our eight counties. Our history has proven that the Church stands with everyone in challenging times, rising to meet the difficulties we face, remembering that Jesus is always with us; he is the light of the world, and our hope in times of uncertainty. As your diocesan administrator, I promise that the Church of Cleveland, will stand with you as we endure this worldwide health crisis. Our Church, united in prayer and through our charitable works remains resilient in these difficult times. Please take steps to take care of yourselves and each other. Follow the government guidelines provided for us. Check on your family members and neighbors. Let kindness be our response to whatever faces us and remember that the season of Lent is the appointed time to focus on our works of charity.

   I invite you to join with me in prayerful solidarity for the intentions of the sick, suffering and their caregivers, as well as government and health officials. With the grace of God, we will endure this health crisis together as a household of faith, showing the world we are followers of Jesus by the way we love one another. —God bless you
