Hi there, everyone! It’s Angel again, hope you’re having a great summer! I know I’m enjoying the time being able to sniff outside & take walks without the snow touching my belly (it’s tough being short you know).
A few weeks ago, my dad was telling me about a homily he gave about an invitation. Well, actually it wasn’t his invitation, it was Jesus’ invitation. The invitation to “take up our cross.” That invitation is an invitation that is meant for each of us. It isn’t just those of a certain age who are called to take up their cross. The call to take up our cross, is a call for each & every one of us.
Whenever I want treats (and I LOVE my treats) my dad always reminds me that I first have to eat my meal. I think that’s a great reminder for all of us, if we want to have our treats, we first have to eat our meal. Now, none of you are looking to sink your teeth into my treats, but each of us is looking for a parish where Jesus is alive, where Jesus is worshipped, where Jesus is made known. From what I’ve seen, I believe that’s what we’ve got here, but I also believe that if we want to keep it that way, if we want to build that up, we have to ask the question, “What can I do to make that happen?” Is there a way that I can take part? If I want a parish where the grounds are welcoming & inviting, how can I make that happen? Is there a way that I could help? How can I take up my cross, to build up & support our parish? For me, I think it’s wagging my tail in greeting to all those who come to visit at the Office. What might it be for you?
I will be taking some time away on Monday morning & I will be out of the office until Friday, August 4th. My dad will be visiting friends & I’ll be spending time with my grandma. My dad loves being here, but he’s also looking forward to taking some time to restore both body & soul. Please pray for my dad as he continues to pray for you!
