One of the great forms of prayer in our Church is intercessory prayer. So many of us have people & causes that we pray for on a regular, sometimes even daily basis. We pray for people who are sick, people who have died, we pray for peace, we pray for the unemployed, just to name a few. There are many ways and forms that we could ask our Lord’s intercession, one of those ways that we are very familiar with is through the offering of Masses. The Mass is the Church’s greatest possible prayer of intercession by virtue of its being the perfect offering of Christ to the Father by making present the Paschal Mystery.
On WEDNESDAY, October 26th, we will open the Mass Books for 2023 at both parishes. Beginning on that day you will be able to call up or stop in to the parish to request Mass intentions for the upcoming year. So many of us have a list of names of people we would like to pray for & many significant days (birthday’s, anniversaries, etc.) that we would like to pray for them on. As we begin to open up the Mass Book for the 2023 year & wanting to ensure that everyone has access to the possibility of offering Masses, to start out we will be following procedures....
For the first month of the Mass Book being open (between 10/26-when the Rectory opens AFTER Thanksgiving on 11/29), each person will be limited to scheduling 5 Mass offerings (including 1 weekend Mass).
After the first month of the Mass Book being open (beginning when the Office opens AFTER Thanksgiving on 11/29), then additional Masses beyond the original 5 can be scheduled (including additional weekend Masses).
To help expedite the scheduling process we have created a Mass intention form that can be found at the doors of the church this weekend. When you come to schedule Masses, please have the form filled out (or a list of your own) & either mail it in or bring it in with you to schedule your Mass intentions. If it is possible, the Masses will be scheduled right away. If the office is busy we will take the form and get back to you ASAP to confirm. Please bring some sort of written list of requested Mass dates with you to help expedite the scheduling process.
Thank you for your understanding and please know of our continued prayers for all of the intercessions that all of you hold in the silence of your hearts! Have a blessed week!
